Car Hire with Plenty of Luxury

Coming into the Stansted area to enjoy the beautiful countryside and soak up the wonderful culture? If so, then you renting a car is the best way to take it all in, and hiring a luxury car is the way to do it in style. And, if you’re coming into the Stansted area on business and need to impress clients or conduct business while you’re traveling, then you’ll definitely need to check out the luxury side of car hires.

What Do Luxury Car Hires Offer?

Luxury car hires can offer you everything a standard car hire would, but it takes up a few more notches. If you’ve always dreamed of breezing down the road with the wind in your hair, then hiring a car such as a Corvette or convertible Ferrari will give you that experience of a lifetime, without needing thousands of pounds to do it!

Luxury car hires can also fill the needs of the business person. If you’re in town on business and need to show clients around or take them out to dinner, hiring a luxury car such as a limousine can be a great way to do it. And of course, these cars also come with chauffeur services so you won’t have to worry about navigating the streets while negotiating a deal.

The luxury car hires that are tailored to professionals especially are also often very large, with entire workstations built right into them. This makes these rentals a great option even if you just need to be able to spread out your work while you’re traveling.

Luxury car hires that are meant for those who just want to show off a little and experience what it’s like to drive an expensive car are often more compact than other cars. This is because they are often sportier models and are designed for speed and a dynamic look.

Stansted Airport and Volcanic Ash

Stansted Airport is one of the busiest of London’s international airports. It serves many destinations both international and domestic. It has so many flights, aircraft, and destinations that it serves over nineteen million passengers a year. This makes the 2010 Icelandic volcano shutdown, a big deal for the airport. Thousands of passengers could not get flights into or out of the airport, so they were stuck in London or elsewhere trying to get to London.

Fortunate for some, the Stansted Airport and volcanic ash situation presented an alternative source of travel. If domestic travel was their goal and then they had numerous ground transportation options available to them. They could get to their final destination. Others who may be relatively close to England could use ferries from coastal location or perhaps using rail to and from France to get to the European continent.

Yet, that still left many stranded because Stansted Airport does host many international airlines. Also, some passengers just opted to wait it out. They had to compete with regularly scheduled passengers who were scheduled to fly the day the airlines were allowed to fly again. Ryanair bases at Stansted Airport and chose to add flights to get everyone repatriated.

Still, even after the April shutdown, an ash cloud again disrupted travel in May. Ryanair cancelled twenty-five flights during that Stansted Airport and volcanic ash problem. Although, those cancellations had more to do with certain destinations rather than Stansted itself. Still, it just highlighted how one airport’s problem can be many airports’ problems.

Stansted Car Park Map

Stansted Airport Map

Stansted Airport is one of the biggest airports serving the London area of the UK. Whilst it is not quite as big as Heathrow, it does offer a large variety of flights and indeed has many more budget flights than Heathrow Airport. This has made it a very popular destination to travel from and it now sees over 19 million passengers through its terminal every year.

With it being such a busy airport, getting there is very easy with a wide range of transport links, both public and private. If you’re going by road you can get to the airport by coming off the M25 at Junction 27 and then following the M11 to Junction 8a. From there you follow the A120, taking the first right hand turn after the roundabout. This will lead you to a smaller roundabout where you need to carry on straight ahead, and then you will have the airport itself well in your sights. Following this route will get you directly to the airport’s terminal and the short stay and valet parking bays. However, should you be staying in a mid-term car park then you will need to take a right at the smaller roundabout instead to get you to the mid-term bays.

For those staying in the long stay car park, the best way to find it is by turning left off the A120 almost immediately after joining and going straight ahead at the first roundabout, and left at the second one.

All the car parks are very well signposted so it should be difficult to get lost.

Stansted Car Parking BAA

Everybody should forget what they’ve heard about parking at airports like Stansted and drive to the airport. There have been so many stereotypes bandied around that there is something of an inherent fear of parking at an airport amongst many people, yet this is completely unjustified. Many of these fears are completely unjustified and rather archaic and derive from a time when only the richest people were able to fly. The most prevalent of these fears is the cost of parking at the airport which is seen to be needing a second mortgage to be taken out in order to fund it! This was the case 50 years ago because it was only the upper echelons of society that were able to afford to fly to go on holiday. The car parking companies were therefore able to charge a lot more for parking because their clients could afford to foot the bill. However, as more people have begun to fly abroad, the companies have realised that they will profit much more if they make parking affordable for everyone, meaning more people park.

Therefore, do not be afraid to park at Stansted airport. The cost works out at a little under £1 per hour which means that it could work out a lot cheaper than the cost of train travel! On top of that you have a vehicle when you return and don’t have to walk very far before you are on your way home – the last thing you want is to be waiting around at the airport!

Stansted Car Parking Prices

It is difficult to understand why people would choose not to drive down to the airport if they are flying out. Let’s first consider the alternative; namely catching the train. Doing this and you are looking at paying upwards of £100 for the return journey as you have to travel into London before coming back out (that is what makes it more expensive). You will have to lug your baggage into a relatively crowded space and always be worrying about leaving it behind or whether it’s safe. Once you get to the airport station you have a good 15 minute walk carrying or dragging your bag behind you before you get to the airport. On top of this you are held to ransom by the train companies who seem to insist that their trains never run to schedule, meaning that you will be stressed and rushing (not the best way to set you up for the flight) and when you arrive back you won’t have any transport so, instead of having a relaxing car journey home, you’ll have to stand on a platform waiting for ages before finally getting on and heading off. It simply isn’t worth it!

Parking at the airport is much cheaper than would be expected. If you park in the long stay car park you can be looking at paying a little under £2 per hour which is a tremendous rate! It may work out a little bit more expensive than catching a train but the added peace of mind that you get is, quite simply, priceless.

Stansted Car Parking - Long Stay

The vast majority of people who are flying to another country decide to drive to the airport. At Stansted airport this is certainly the case. The main issue with Stansted is the location. Unlike many of the other airports in the London area, Stansted airport isn’t easily accessible by public transport. There are trains and buses running to it, but whilst that may be useful for those based around London, for people travelling from other parts of the country it is unnecessary hassle and an expense that is not welcome – especially in this age of recession where budget holidays are more popular than ever!

In terms of cost, parking at Stansted airport is much cheaper than any other method if you aren’t local. If you are using public transport, both when you arrive and when you leave, then you have to get a train into London and then back home. This can be as much as £150 which is a lot to be forking out for the hassle that you will have (to be reliant upon British public transport is something to be advised against!). More inventive ways of getting to the airport in Stansted include getting a flight down from a more local airport, but this is too expensive for the majority of people who are flying out. The cheapest and easiest option is definitely to drive to the airport and park. For only £10 per day, you are not reliant on the transport services and can feel much less stressed when you’re trying to arrive for check in.

Stansted Car Parking - Cheap

Airport parking used to be prohibitively expensive but now it is affordable and totally acceptable to leave your vehicle for a long period of time in an airport car park and not get charged an extortionate sum of money. Stansted is no different to this new style of cheap airport car parking pricing. Long stay parking is where you want to be if you are taking a holiday or a relatively long trip somewhere. A courtesy bus service operating every 15 minutes will take you from this car park to the main terminal buildings in 10 to 15 minutes. If you turn up on the day of your flight and wish to park here it will set you back a mere £9.50 per day - no one can argue with a price as cheap as that! There are even more discounts to be had for booking in advance online making it a very cheap option.

Mid-stay parking is also very reasonable at Stansted, with prices ‘on the door’ at £13 per day. Both long stay and short stay passengers can park up in this car park, but it has a few more luxurious characteristics attached to it such as being closer to the terminal building and a free transfer service running every 10 minutes and only takes 5 minutes to reach the main terminal buildings. Advanced bookings again produce a discount rate. Finally, short stay is your last option and if you’re looking for a cheap car parking deal this really isn’t the place to stay! The service costs £27.50 per day - almost double that of the luxury mid-stay car park! This option really should only be used to pick up, or drop off, people at the airport.

Stansted Car Parking - Pink Elephant

Pink Elephant is a car parking company that runs the car park at Stansted airport. They are one of the largest service providers of car parking at Stansted airport and have over 10 million people parking in their car park every year. Because of this it is essential that their car park is able to stand up to the demand so it is very commendable that this is certainly the case. The car parking system is split into 2 main blocks; short stay car parking (for those of you who are staying for a few hours; perhaps to drop off a family member or a fried before heading off) and long stay car parking (for those who are going on holiday for days or even weeks and need somewhere to park the car for the whole duration) which means that no matter what you require, you will be able to park your car.

The main advantage to this is exceptional fluidity with the parking. People who are staying in the long stay car park needn’t worry about not being able to find a space because there is no spill-over from the short stay car park into the long stay car park. The short stay car park is large enough to hold hundreds of cars at a time, so they can be in and out to clear the way for the next flight very swiftly. The car parking is very cheap and all the car parks are accessible making it a very useful facility.

Stansted Car Hire

When you arrive at Stansted airport, there are a few things that can be guaranteed. You’ll be tired, you’ll be stressed and you’ll just want to get to the hotel and sleep as quickly and easily as possible. There are, therefore, a few options that you have. You can hire a taxi, take public transport or hire a car. Each of these options has its benefits but no matter how much you analyse it the best option by far is to hire a car.

Hiring a car is very quick and easy to do. You can book to hire any car in stock before you fly out and once you arrive you can just queue up and have the keys to your car before you know it. The advantages to having a hire car are numerous. Unlike with a train you are in complete control of your journey so if there is some unforeseen event (blocked route) then you can do something about it. You can also drive to any building you want to which is much more convenient than walking; especially if you don’t know the area. However, the biggest advantage is that you can drive from the airport to the hotel, which is stress free and means you’ll be in bed relaxing much faster than if you decided to use the public transport system. After a long flight, when you are tired upon arrival, nothing is more important than hiring a car and ensuring that you can relax as soon as possible!

Stansted Car Park

There are, of course, many reasons not to use a car when you want to get to the airport, yet many of these reasons are based upon preconceptions that may have been relevant a decade ago but are now obsolete. The main fear is that the cost of leaving your car in the airport car park is simply obscene - it is a waste of money when you can spend a lot less and catch a train direct to the airport instead. Yet, at Stansted this couldn’t be further from the truth. For each day that you are parked in the long stay car park, you have to pay the fee of £9.50. To say that this gives you the utmost security and the knowledge that you won’t have to rely on navigating the public transport system when you return, most likely tired, from your holiday, it is certainly worth it!

The second main fear is that you will arrive at the car park and drive around for hours searching for a space, which leaves you rushing to check in on time. Yet, this couldn’t be further from the truth. At Stansted there is a large short and long stay car park, meaning that people dropping off others don’t have to overflow into the long stay car park due to lack of spaces. On top of this, there is an online system whereby you can book a car parking space months in advance which will reserve you a space - avoiding the problem even more!
