Over the past few weeks, people have been going crazy over the news that the H1N1 flu virus (which you may also know as the swine flu virus) is spreading across the globe. As the news started to spread that the H1N1 flu virus was believed to be responsible for more than one hundred deaths in Mexico, people started to panic about the virus having the same effect around the world. Even though people are still worried about the fact that the H1N1 virus continues to spread, it has not caused the same level of deaths that it did in Mexico anywhere else in the world. I brought this issue up because it is hard for me to figure out why people continue to be extremely worried about swine flu when it is proving to be much less serious than initially believed. In spite of the fact that I think this continued worrying is unjustified, countries throughout the world are continuing to respond in a fairly serious manner.
Because I planned it over three months ago, I have decided that regardless of all these swine flu worries, I am not canceling that trip I have planned. I have a trip to London planned for the end of July, and in spite of all the worries that people around the world are having, I will definitely be going there and having a great time. In addition to booking my flight and hotel room, I have already reserved a Stansted car hire, so there’s no way I am going through the process of canceling all of those reservations. The one reason that I don’t think I will actually have to worry about canceling my trip is because by the time it actually arrives, I bet the news media will have something new to make people worry about more than swine flu!
